JARcuterie is here
Gone are the days of standing at the snack table until you feel insecure, and say goodbye to the entire guestbook laying their germs all over the crackers, because now you have your delicious snacks in a convenient to carry, personalized jar.

Jarcuterie! Is Here and We LOVE it!

Charcuterie is always an excellent addition to any party, gathering, or get-together. Everyone is always happy when they walk into an event, and they spot a neatly dressed plate covered with crackers, cheeses, meats, and other accouterments.

The only issue is that the presence of charcuterie begets several dilemmas. “How much should I take?” “Have I been standing here picking at this delicious charcuterie for too long?” What if we told you that we have the solutions to your problems? What if we told you that there was an easy answer, and it’s been right on the Jar Store this whole time?

Enter: Jarcuterie=individual charcuterie!

Gone are the days of standing at the snack table until you feel insecure, and say goodbye to the entire guestbook laying their germs all over the crackers, because now you have your delicious snacks in a convenient to carry, personalized jar.

Jarcuterie is simple, it’s just charcuterie, but instead of being on a big plate for everyone to touch and sneeze on, it’s in a jar that you can carry around with you and protect from anyone’s grubby fingers or hungry eyes. It makes for an excellent party favor, and it’s guaranteed to keep your guests satisfied and impressed during your next big shin-dig.

Okay, I like this “Jarcuterie” idea, but where do I start? Getting started is the easy part because
you’re already in the right place…this is the Jar Store, after all.

First things first, you need to get your hands on some jars. Portions are up to you, but we
recommend a shallower jar to make things a bit easier. Something like our 8 oz.tureen jar or a 9 oz straight sided jar should work well.

Ideally, any jar with a wide mouth should work the large opening, allows for maximum finger
room and snacking capability. Then grab some skewers or toothpicks, and you’re good to go!
Once you’ve got your hands on your beautiful and elegant glass jars, you’re ready to pick out
your hors d’oeuvres.

Supplies needed:
Selection of cured meats, pick your favorites!

  • Genoa salami
  • Peppered salami
  • Italian dry salami
  • Pepperoni
  • Prosciutto
  • Sausage, sliced diagonally

Select up to three varieties of Cheeses!

  • Gouda
  • Blue cheese
  • Gorgonzola
  • Pecorino Romano
  • Cheddar

Crackers and bread, play around and experiment, but try to pick at least two!

  • Triscuits
  • Sourdough, sliced diagonally
  • Ciabatta
  • Pita
  • Water crackers
  • Pretzel sticks

Sweet stuff and others.

  • Grapes
  • Figs, fresh or dried
  • Sliced apples
  • Almonds
  • Dried apricots
  • Pistachios
  • Walnuts
  • Olives

1. Drop in the small stuff first. Olives, grapes, or nuts, go in the bottom of the jar before assembling the rest of your ingredients.

2. Dice your cheese, slice your bread, and cut your meat. Everything should be bite-size or small enough to fit on a cracker. For a fancier look, slice your bread and meats diagonally on the bias.

3. Skewer your meats and cheeses and place them sticking up out of the jar. For any thinly sliced meats like salami that won’t skewer well, fold them in half or roll them up. Note: If you’re using breadsticks or pretzel sticks, they also fit well when they’re protruding vertically out of the jar.

4. Place your crackers and bread on small plates to serve with the Jarcuterie.

5. Set the jar on top of its lid to use as a small makeshift serving platter.

6. Serve up your beautiful Jarcuterie!

What if I’m vegan or vegetarian?
Don’t fret! Vegan charcuterie recipes are delicious, and they transition well into Jarcuterie as
well! Ditch the meats and pick up some tofu, seitan, and cauliflower in their place. You can also
substitute out the regular cheeses for vegan cheeses without sacrificing any of the flavors.

Great ideas for me, but my kids are picky eaters!
Not a problem at all! Take these same concepts and make yourself a dessert Jarcuterie. A
simple solution is to substitute out the meats and cheeses for marshmallows and chocolates
and replace the bread with graham crackers and pretzel sticks. Some other things to consider throwing in are edible cookie dough, yogurt-covered cranberries, or raisins.

Our 17 oz Heremes Clamp Jar make the perfect container for desert jarcuterie!
