S’mores Parfait

Quick and easy, but rich and delicious, this 15-minute s’mores parfait is a great way to treat yourself on National S’mores Day and bring the campfire to you in just 5 steps. If you’re not a camping fan, but sure are one of s’mores, you don’t have to miss out on the fun and tasty bites!

Here’s What You’ll Need*

*This recipe serves 4. If you need more, simply double your ingredient portion appropriately.

  • 4 glass jars, preferably 6 oz or 8 oz
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 (5.9-ounce) box chocolate instant pudding
  • 10 graham crackers
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • Kitchen torch (optional, and you’ll see why soon)

Here’s How to Make It!

  1. Put the milk in the freezer for 20 minutes before you are ready to make the pudding.
  2. In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and milk until well combined and slightly thick. Let set for 5 minutes.
  3. Put the graham crackers into a resealable plastic bag and using a rolling pin, roll over the crackers to break them up into coarse crumbs.
  4. Get your 4 glass jars. Spoon about a 1/4 cup or so of the pudding into the bottom of each glass. Sprinkle on a layer of the crumbled graham crackers and then a layer of marshmallows. Repeat with another layer of each ingredient ending with the marshmallows.
  5. Lastly, and completely optional, if you want to still get the bonfire ambience, carefully light a kitchen torch and lightly brown the top layer of marshmallows.

Serve!

S’mores Prep and Storage for S’mores Bar Station

Now, if you’d prefer the real outdoors experience of traditional s’mores making, make it a camping trip! (Or, it can also work as a day picnic or evening bonfire affair.) Here are ways to prepare all of your s’mores fixins’ beforehand to make it all a smooth assembly come eating time. As an alternative, this organized s’mores bar station can be put together as a gift in a jar for a s’mores and camping enthusiast you might know! And yes, this prep only takes 5 steps too.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 3 cracker jars with lids. We’d suggest ones with lots of room like a 2 quart or 128 oz for a whole lot of eating. The four panels on cracker jars allow you to easily apply labels on for identifying the items inside.
  • Candy chocolate bars
  • Graham crackers
  • Parchment paper. This will pad your graham crackers during the commute to your camping or day destination.
  • Writing labels or sticky notes
  • Marker or pen
  • Chopsticks or skewers
  • Tongs

Here’s How to Make It!

  1. With all of your ingredients assembled, take three labels and write the following, one on each: Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolates.
  2. Put parchment paper in the Graham Crackers jar.
  3. Break your crackers into halves and your chocolates into squares.
  4. Place the crackers carefully in the Graham Crackers jar, place the chocolates inside of the Chocolates Jar, and pour your marshmallows into the Marshmallows jar.
  5. Screw the lids on each glass jar and you’re all ready to go!

If you are creating this as a s’mores bar station gift box to someone, then grab a good craft cheese box or another kind of rustic wooden box and simply put the jars, tongs (optional), and chopsticks or skewers in place. You can add decorative tags on the jars to write a customized message of your choosing for this sweet jar gift.

Now, if you’re gifting yourself and other friends and family, once you arrive to your camping or event grounds, get to creating your s’mores bar station. Set up a picnic or serving table, clean it of course by wiping down the surface with some antibacterial solution or bleach, then set out the jars and chopsticks or skewers. Tongs are suggested for self-serving and scooping out each ingredient from their respective jars. Happy eating!
